GoHighLevel Snapshots Save Agencies Time Onboarding Clients
GoHighLevel snapshots save agencies time onboarding clients because they turn a sub-account you've already built into a template you can drop into the next one. Instead of rebuilding a funnel, a pipeline, and a set of workflows from a blank account, you copy what already works and start from there.
HighLevel's own documentation on snapshots calls this "copying reusable account configurations from one sub-account into another." Pick a source account, choose what it carries, and push it into a new one. That's the entire mechanism.
What a Snapshot Actually Copies
A snapshot moves the parts of a sub-account that define how it runs, not the parts that record what's already happened inside it. HighLevel's support documentation lists what transfers:
- Workflows and automations
- Funnels and websites
- Forms, calendars and dashboards
- Custom fields and pipelines
- Email templates, blogs and campaigns
- Advertising structures
Contacts, appointments, conversations, messages and integration connections stay behind. A new client's account opens clean on data while inheriting everything you configured to make it run.
That's what separates onboarding with a template from onboarding out of a blank workspace. The new client isn't starting your build over. They're just filling it with their own information.
Creating and Deploying a Snapshot
You don't build a snapshot from inside a client's own account. Agencies create them from the agency view: open Accounts, go to Snapshots, and pick the sub-account you want to copy from before choosing which assets to carry over.
Getting that source account right the first time is most of the work. That's why a lot of agencies bring in GHL setup and configuration help before they ever save the template.
Loading a snapshot back out works two ways. A brand-new sub-account can select one under its own Snapshots tab while it's being created. An existing account gets one through Sub-Accounts, then Actions, then Load Snapshot, without disturbing whatever data is already sitting in it.
Where the Template Keeps Paying Off
Snapshots aren't limited to a single onboarding call. HighLevel added Documents and Contracts to what a snapshot can carry in a June 2024 update, so a signed-document template now travels with the rest of the build instead of getting recreated by hand in every new account.
First-time users get help inside the module itself. HighLevel's integrated onboarding for snapshots shows short videos and quick links the first time a Snapshots list is empty, then stays available afterward for anyone still learning the module.
Agencies running several client verticals get more out of one good template than a single onboarding does. A franchise-style operation running the same setup across multiple locations can push the same snapshot to each one and adjust locally from there.
Some agencies go further and sell their configurations to other agencies through HighLevel's App Marketplace, where a snapshot can carry a one-time, monthly or yearly price once it's listed.
None of that works if the source account is sloppy. A snapshot copies whatever you built, mistakes included, into every account after it.
Getting the first one right, with white-label support behind it if you need it, is what makes every client after the first one faster, not just the next one.
