How to Send a GoHighLevel Newsletter

Two different features inside GoHighLevel can send what people call a newsletter, and they work nothing alike. Email Campaigns handles the one-off broadcast: HighLevel's support documentation describes it as a one-time email you design and send to a chosen audience, covering newsletters, promotions and announcements without needing a workflow.

Communities runs the other kind, a recurring digest that goes out on its own schedule once someone switches it on. Which feature actually suits a GoHighLevel newsletter depends on whether the content changes every time you write it, or just needs to land on a schedule.

Building the Newsletter in Email Campaigns

HighLevel draws a clean line between the two pieces that go into one of these emails. A template is a reusable layout, essentially a preset built once for a specific purpose like a newsletter.

On top of that template sits the campaign itself: this week's actual content, sent to a segment or smart list rather than your whole contact database.

The Email Builder is a drag-and-drop WYSIWYG editor that shows changes as you make them. It offers single-column layouts, two-column splits, and four-column grids for listing several items.

Custom values insert a recipient's name or location automatically, and GoHighLevel's AI-assisted content generation can draft a first pass of the copy. A/B testing lets two subject lines, or two layouts, compete before the full list gets either one.

Sending or Scheduling the Campaign

Once the content's built, sending it follows the same handful of steps every time.

  1. Go to Marketing, then Email, then Campaigns, and create a new campaign or open one already built.
  2. Design the email from a template if one exists, then preview it across screen sizes.
  3. Add the sender name, a verified sending address and the subject line.
  4. Pick recipients from a segment or smart list.
  5. Choose Send Now, or Schedule for a specific date and time.

Scheduled sends go out according to the location's own timezone, shown directly under the schedule setting. A scheduled campaign can be pushed back by up to an hour before it fires, and attachments are capped at 10MB.

If the list is large enough to brush against sending limits, that's worth checking against GoHighLevel's bulk email limits before scheduling anything big. Link tracking and UTM parameters show which part of the newsletter people actually clicked.

Automatic Newsletters Inside Communities

A client running a membership or community inside GoHighLevel has a second newsletter option that skips the Email Builder entirely. It lives under Memberships, then Communities, then Groups, inside a group's Settings and Newsletter tab, switched off by default until an owner or admin turns it on.

Once active, HighLevel pulls together active threads, trending posts, and updates from people a member follows, then sends that digest on its own.

The frequency gets set once at the group level: daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly on a specific date, including the last day of the month.

Every member gets it on the same schedule. There's no per-person timing, though members who don't want it can drop out through an unsubscribe link built into the email.

A client asking for a GoHighLevel newsletter almost always means the first kind: a broadcast they want to write and approve every time it goes out. The Communities version only earns its place once a group already has enough activity worth summarizing.

Figuring out which one a business actually needs, and building out the wider email marketing setup or GoHighLevel configuration around it, is worth doing before either gets switched on.
