GoHighLevel Pipeline Templates Explained

Typing "GoHighLevel pipeline templates" into a search bar turns up dozens of agencies selling import-ready sales boards. GoHighLevel itself doesn't ship a template picker for pipelines.

HighLevel's own guide to creating pipelines walks through building one from scratch: open Opportunities, click Pipelines, name the new pipeline, and add stages one at a time. The system generates "Won" and "Lost" stages on its own, so those two never need building.

That's a different model from choosing a preset off a shelf. If you want something closer to a template, the mechanism that actually exists is a snapshot, and it works at the level of a whole sub-account rather than a single pipeline.

Why GoHighLevel Pipeline Templates Don't Really Exist

Pipelines sit inside a hierarchy: a contact becomes an opportunity, the opportunity lives in a pipeline, and the pipeline is made of stages. Each stage, according to the platform's setup guide for pipelines and opportunities, represents one specific step in a sales process.

Because that process differs by business, the guide pushes you toward naming your own stages rather than accepting generic ones. Its example list for a service business runs New Lead, Hot Lead, Booked Call, No Show, Delayed, Closed, and Non-responsive.

That's a process built around phone follow-up, not a universal template to copy into a different industry.

How Stages and Opportunities Actually Work

Stages aren't fixed once you create them. You can reorder them, assign a color to each one, and control whether a stage counts toward your conversion reporting. Deleting one prompts you to move its opportunities somewhere else first.

Opportunities can land in a stage three ways, per the same guide:

  • Manual creation, for a one-off deal as it comes in
  • CSV import, for migrating an existing list of opportunities
  • Workflow automation, which creates or updates an opportunity automatically when a trigger fires, such as a form submission or a payment

That third option is where a pipeline stops being a static board and starts doing work on its own. It's also what our workflow automation work inside GoHighLevel is built around.

Snapshots Are the Real Template Mechanism

If you've built a pipeline you like and want to reuse it, GoHighLevel's answer is the snapshot. A snapshot, in HighLevel's own description, is a reusable template that captures selected configuration from one sub-account so it can be copied into new or existing ones.

Pipelines are one of the assets a snapshot can carry, alongside workflows, funnels, forms, calendars, custom fields, dashboards, and email templates, as HighLevel's snapshots overview lays out.

None of your custom fields or stage names get left behind when you apply it elsewhere.

A snapshot isn't a backup, though. It leaves out contacts, conversation history, live account activity, Stripe connections, and phone numbers already assigned to a Voice AI agent.

Only the structure travels with it; the deals already sitting in that pipeline stay where they are.

Building one is a short process. From Agency view you open Account Snapshots, click Create New Snapshot, name it, pick the sub-account holding the pipeline, and choose which assets to include, according to HighLevel's guide to creating snapshots.

You can select everything at once or pick individual pieces by category.

Once it exists, you can apply that snapshot to as many sub-accounts as you need, and refresh it later by adding or removing assets without rebuilding from zero. One well-built pipeline becomes the starting point for every client after it.

If you're setting up a new sub-account and want the pipeline right the first time, that's the groundwork our GHL setup and configuration work handles.

It's worth reading how stages actually function in our breakdown of GoHighLevel's sales pipeline stages before you build the one you intend to turn into a snapshot.
